Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company Overview
The Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company is a state commercial company charged with the responsibility for the maintenance and development of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. In order to carry out the objectives, the Company aims at all times, to be fair and equitable in its dealings with employees, suppliers and the local community. In addition it aims to provide an efficient and cost effective service to its customers.
Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company is the statutory commercial body charged with developing Dún Laoghaire Harbour as a marine tourism gateway to Ireland, maintaining and enhancing the recreational and amenity value of the Harbour and promoting investment and commercial development to support the historic Harbour's long-term maintenance. The Harbour was built between 1817 and 1842 and is widely recognised as one of the finest artificial harbours in the world.
The Harbour Company was established under the Harbours Act of 1996 and was formally established in March 1997.

Finance 2007
Chief Executive, Michael Hanahoe stated,
"I am optimistic that further strong revenue and operating profit growth will be achieved in the current year. For the future we will continue to focus on the development of our ferry terminal business, working with Stena Line to ensure that we offer the best possible facilities for their customers in Dún Laoghaire. We will also continue to focus on the continued growth of non shipping revenues".

Harbour Masters
Captain J. Carter - Current Harbourmaster
Captain J. Carter, has shown himself to be a Harbour Master ready to risk his own life notwithstanding the high office he holds which would have made it very easy for him to order somebody else to take the risk.
Captain L Sheil
In a report from November 1941 unsigned but evidently written by one of the lifeboatmen which emphasises that these (three colleagues of the writer of the report and Sheil) were told by all present that they were risking their lives by crossing in the circumstances the bridge to Carlisle Pier and begged not to do so.
Captain F.G. Crofton
On October 24 1881 he reported no doubt with considerable relief that the schooner Annie Cowley out of Rotterdam was not fit to resume her voyage. She had put in owing to severe weather having lost her main boom - evidence of the permanent value of Kingstown/Dún Laoghaire as a harbour of refuge or asylum.
Captain A. Thompson

Captain R. Kearon
Captain Kearon was unquestionably a very fine seaman with a splendid reputation with the Shaw Savill and Albion shipping company on whose celebrated liner service to Australia he served.
