Children’s Competition to name the new Dun Laoghaire Harbour Tourist Train.

James the Tourist Train has just moved to Dun Laoghaire Harbour. Mrs Mary Hanafin, Minister of Tourism Culture and Sport, was one of the first passengers on board when she came along to launch the train when it arrived in its new home on Monday the 5th of July.

To win a great family day out in Dun Laoghaire Harbour, we are inviting children between the ages of 5 and 12 to suggest a new Irish name for the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Tourist Train.

The family day out in Dun Laoghaire Harbour will include a boat tour of Dublin Bay, lunch in the Purple Ocean restaurant, a train ride down the pier, Teddy’s Ice Creams and a tour of the East Pier Lighthouse.

Along with the Childs contact details, entries are being accepted in writing by post to:
Train Name Competition, C/O Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company, Harbour Lodge, Crofton Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin Closing Date is the Friday 13th August 2010.

Competition Rules


1. Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company “Train Name Competition” is open to children resident in Ireland who are between the ages of five years and twelve years old as at the closing date of Friday 13th August, 2010. The child’s parent or guardian (“You”) must sign the entry in order for it to be valid.
2. The competition commences on Friday 30th July, 2010 and the closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 13th August, 2010. All entries must be received at Train Name Competition, C/O Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company, Harbour Lodge, Crofton Road, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin by close of business on Friday 13th August, 2010. Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company is not responsible if your entry has not been received by the closing date
3. Entry is limited to one per child between the ages of five and twelve as at Friday 13th August, 2010.
4. All entries must print the following details in BLOCK CAPITALS:
• Child’s name and date of birth;
• Parent or guardian’s name, postal address and email address/phone number;
• The suggested name of the Train; and
• Signature by a parent or guardian.
5. By signing the entry, You consent to the child entering the Train Name Competition. If You do not wish the child’s name to be posted on our website in the event of their suggested name being chosen as the winner, please notify us at the time of entry as the winner will be announced on our website www.dlharbour.ie on the first week of September.
6. Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company reserves the right to disqualify any entries it deems have failed to adhere to the Competition Rules. By submitting an entry to the Train Name Competition, You as the parent or guardian agree to be bound fully by the Competition Rules.
7. All entries become the property of Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company and You agree that they will not be returned to You or the child. You agree that all intellectual property rights associated with the entry and regarding the chosen name will be the sole property of Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company.
8. By submitting an entry, You consent to Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company holding and processing your personal data and that of the child. You further consent to Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company contacting You by post, telephone or email if provided regarding the child’s entry. All personal data will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Acts, 1988 and 2003 and will not be used for any purpose other than the Train Name Competition.
9. The winner must adhere to the Competition Rules in order to receive the prize which includes a family day out in Dún Laoghaire Harbour (2 adults plus and a maximum of 5 children up to 18 years of age); a boat tour of Dublin Bay, Set lunch in the Purple Ocean Restaurant (between 12 noon and 5pm Tuesday to Sunday (excluding alcoholic beverages)), a train ride down the East Pier, a Teddy’s Ice Cream and a tour of the East Pier Lighthouse. The prize is valid until 31 August, 2011, is subject to availability and must be booked in advance through Dún Laoghaire harbour Company.
10. Entrants must not be affiliated with Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company by means of suppliers, employees, contractors, service providers or relatives of the aforementioned.
11. Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Train Name Competition.
12. In the event of a number of entries suggesting the winning name, Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company will place these entries into a further draw whereby the winner will be picked at random. There is only one prize, therefore only one winner shall be chosen.
